I was deeply moved to see our community come together for the opening of the Fitzgibbon Bush Trail – a day filled with smiles, stories, and a real sense of pride. Guided and supported by my Elders, this project has been a journey of learning, respect, and cultural sharing.
My dream was to create a free space where schools, early learning centres, and the wider community could walk, connect with Country, and learn about our native plants and their traditional uses. This trail is more than a path through the bush — it's a place to listen, to teach, and to keep our culture alive for generations to come. Watching people stop at each sign, taking in the knowledge, and sharing their own yarns reminded me how strong we are when we come together. This trail belongs to all of us — a place to walk gently, honour our Elders, and celebrate the richness of our shared heritage. – Lisa Caruana
